The Donkey and the Dragonfly
By the road, a donkey was grazing. A blue dragonfly circled around it. It flew down and then settled on a
rosehip bush. The donkey looked at it admiringly.
"I wish I could fly like you," he sighed.
"That's nothing!" said the dragonfly confidently.
"Please, teach me to fly," the donkey begged.
"Alright. Come to the rocky cliff tomorrow."
Then the dragonfly flew away gracefully.
The next day, the donkey arrived at the agreed place. His companion from yesterday was already waiting
impatiently.
"I can't wait to fly. Just tell me what to do," whined the donkey.
"It's very simple! Run and the rest will come by itself."
The donkey did so. And indeed—he flew. But downwards. A fall from a great height could not end well.
The donkey broke his neck. He was dead on the spot.
The dragonfly looked into the depths and lamented: "Poor unfortunate one, he wanted to fly and yet did
not realize he had no wings."
