Man and Ant

     At a crossroads, a man met an ant. He immediately greeted it:

     "Be healthy, friend! I bow deeply before you."

     "Why?" the tiny creature wondered.

     "You can lift up to fifty times your weight and push thirty times your weight ahead of you. If all ants united,

they could move the Earth!"

     The ant was silent.

     "I can lift at most the boulder lying here by the road," the man said disappointedly.

     The ant humbly replied:

     "You are right. I can do all that. But if you want, you can crush me to mush anytime."

     The man nodded.

     "I agree. Why should I use strength to destroy strength?"

     "You are wise," said the little creature, "but not everyone thinks that way!"

     Both were glad that they understood each other so well.

     Then they parted amicably. Each went his own way.
